Located 50km south east of Hamilton Island and 32km north east of Mackay, Brampton Island is part of the Cumberland Group of Islands and covers approximately 460 hectares. Situated in the Whitsunday Island Passage, Brampton enjoys a stunning natural environment with its highest point reaching 214m above sea level at Brampton Peak.
Part of the World Heritage listed Whitsunday Islands, Brampton Island is a relaxing haven declared a National Park and is home to a spectacular range of scenery. Soak up the sun and get away from with all with the glorious weather and sun kissed beaches of the island or explore the walking tracks and wildlife of the National Park.
Brampton Island is home to 12 soft white sand beaches and the crystal clear water that laps onto its shores boasts a colourful array of coral gardens beneath its waters. Of all its beaches, seven of Brampton's best are easily accessible via walking tracks and each offers spectacular views back over the island or out across the sparkling Coral Sea.
The fringing reefs that jut out from the shores of Brampton Island are home to a vibrant array of coral gardens and tropical marine life. Brampton also enjoys a unique ecosystem which allows it to offer snorkelling directly off the beach, unlike many other tropical Queensland islands. As part of the natural wonder of the world, the Great Barrier Reef, Brampton enjoys a rich and exotic range of plant and marine life.
The remainder of the island is categorised as a National Park and as such, the flora and fauna is many and diverse. There are more than 17km of nature trails and walking tracks scattered throughout the island, allowing you to get up close and personal with this amazing natural environment and the wildlife that call it home. With over 50 species of birds, the island is renowned for its soundtrack of melodic bird calls.
